EVDOh!?

johnny May 31st, 2008

For about six months now, we’ve been very happy with our service from . We invested in extras such as an external antenna and a Wilson trucker amplifier. We have had some sketchy service as we traveled around, but we have very rarely been in a complete dead zone in our, admittedly, limited travels.

Verizon has a slightly better coverage footprint than , at least the way most people seem to figure it, but had one major benefit: unlimited connectivity and downloads. Verizon claims to have ‘unlimited connectivity’, but after 5GB in a month, they start charging you $0.49 per MEG!

How many MPG does YOUR house get?

johnny May 28th, 2008

Well, our house gets about 14 mpg on flat land such as Florida. We got more in the neighborhood of 12 mpg in the Virginia and mountains.
I know everyone has been screaming about prices lately, and I’d rather not get too terribly sidetracked other than to say that in less than two weeks while we were at the , we watched prices go up 12% across the street from us.

Fred Sanford’s Bike

johnny May 13th, 2008

As I’ve mentioned, we’re working at Bike Week in Myrtle currently. If we don’t post too much, it’s because we’re just too busy and tired. Wednesday was a light day, only about eight hours of setup and cleaning the concession stand. Thursday was mostly free, but starting Friday, we’ve had thirteen to fourteen hour days one after another that will continue until next Saturday.

We’re taking lots of interesting pictures, but for now, here’s a few shots of my favorite bike. Yes, you need to see it from this many angles, and yes, it plays ice cream truck music.

Hunting Sites in NC

johnny May 8th, 2008

Still heading south for the in Myrtle , we spent a couple of nights in . Since we had such good luck with ’s in Virginia, we figured NC ’s would be worth a shot. Turns out, they are kind of hit or miss. ’s in NC do not allow the extensive that VA has. You can, however, use some pretty secluded camping sites that are primarily for hunters. The catch is, the sites are only open during season.
