Hummer go BOOM!

June 25th, 2008

Today we had some visitors. Wayne went and broke the Hummer good, so he had a full tour group walking down the mountain. Apparently, he lost a retaining bolt that had one wheel of the Hummer sticking out at a decidedly incorrect angle.

Being the friendly hippie forest dwellers that we are, Jenn put out a plate of cookies and chips and a pitcher of water since we were roughly the halfway point of the tour. Half of the group seemed suspicious of ‘hippie cookies’, while the other half grabbed for them and then seemed disappointed that they were only cookies.

This morning, I was fearing that we’d have to leave early because the silly cats eat too much and we did not plan appropriately. Now, I know that I should plan for two cats to eat about four pounds of food a week. We were toying with making food for them or possibly riding into town for a resupply, but Wayne came to the rescue. He has promised to bring back a bag of food for our feline parasites, for which they will probably neither thank him nor so much as look at him without suspicion.

Jenn and I will be immensely grateful though. It would be a shame to leave such a beautiful spot before we need to meet Jenn’s parents for the fourth of July holiday.

I really love those spontaneous moments that being on the road, without any real commitments, brings. How fun to have come across those people, and then save the day!

I already asked Jenn for some of those Hippie cookies, except I want something special in mine (and not rat poison like the wife tries to give me). Sounds to me like you need another cat, which you can gladly relieve me of the latest one that we now have.

That’s quite a tasty looking morsel you picked up. Its young and tender. Teal knows how to bring home the “chicken”. I suggest putting a little meat on it though. But, I am sure you planned to anyway. 🙂

Actually, I was hoping it could go the other way around and you would take my little ones. I mean what’s another mouth to feed once you have as many as you do?

Tell you what, next time I see you, I will hand you a box of cookies. A big heavy box. Don’t worry if the cookies meow, that’s totally normal for hippy cookies.
